The Coptic Church celebrates the anniversary of the entry of Christ into the land of Egypt on the 24th of Bashans, corresponding to the 1st of June, in commemoration of the entry of the Holy Family to the city of Basta.
The people of the Church boast of this great memory, praising our God and Lord Jesus Christ, who bestowed upon our country the blessings and the great honor of His eternal visit and the Holy Family’s journey, by which our country was sanctified.
The words of the doxology of the 24th day of Bashans are sang in tune, saying: “Rejoice and be glad, O Egypt (or O people of Egypt) and all its children, and all its borders, for the Lover of mankind has come to you, who exists before all ages.”
