It was the seat and capital of the 14th Pharaonic dynasty, which included 76 kings, and it ruled the throne of Lower Egypt for 184 years.
In the Ptolemaic and Roman periods, it was called “Exoes” or “Axios”, and the name changed after a while to “Pikha Isos”.
