The Holy Family traveled south to a village called “Philes”, about 20 km away from Ashmunayn. It is currently the village of Dayrout Al-Sharif, located on the western mainland, about 5 km northwest of Dayrout Al-Mahatta, and it is one of the villages of Dayrout city in Assiut Governorate.
The Holy Family stayed in Dayrut al-Sharif (Phileas) for a few days, and they lived with a Jewish carpenter named “Dianus” who knew Saint Joseph the carpenter.
Lord Jesus Christ performed many miracles there, as He healed the son of that man from epilepsy.
There is a church named after the Virgin Mary in this village.
