The Holy Family walked next to the Nile branch (Damietta branch) after resting in Dakados, and they reached Minyat Jinnah, which is now called Minyat Snoud. Today, it is one of the villages affiliated to Aja Center in Dakahlia Governorate.
Anba Zacharias’ sermon mentions that the Holy Family came to Minyat Sanmoud (Minyat Jinnah) and from there crossed the Nile until it reached Samanoud on the other side of the Nile. Also, Abu al-Makarem mentioned in the 12th century AD that there is a church there in the name of St. George on the shore of the Nile.
It is stated as well by the French archaeologist Emilino in his book “The Geography of Egypt in the Coptic Era,” that it is called Minyat Sanmoud or Mit Sanmoud, and it is located near Samanoud to the east.
