The Holy Family moved from the Haret Zuwaila to Old Cairo region, which was famous at that time for a large Jewish community. The Holy Family stayed there for some time in a cave under the church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus (also known as the Church of Abu Serga), who were both martyred in the fourth century AD.
The area was named “Babylon” and it was said that it comes from the word “Bab Elo” meaning “God’s Gate”.
